DOLCE VITA
43rd & Duval

A gelateria in the original sense of the word. This place is awesome not only because of its location in the swank Hyde Park, but also because of it’s Euro flavor. The coffee is fresh, the gelato, especially the frutti de bosco, or any other ripe fruit flavor, like raspberry, is worthy of devouring. Mmmm, delizioso. They’re light, but rich enough to fulfill your cravings. And for those friends who don’t nearly have as great a sweet tooth as you, Dolce Vita also makes great (fresh!) panini sandwiches. The presentation is unbelievable…as is the smell.  The real treat however is the Tiramisu - you’ll have to ask for it by name - but trust us, you will not be disappointed.  Definitely some of the best tiramisu this side of the Atlantic.

I love it also because it’s not commercialized (because nothing should be), but it is absolutely worthy of spreading its reputation through word of mouth. It’s great for an after dinner date, or even on Thursday nights when downtown lights aren’t the mood you were looking for. And the crowd is so eclectic, from young undergrads and grads, to aged Austinites who are still trying to strike up those “I’m so weird because I’m bored” conversations. Gotta love ‘em.
